Mathematics is used to understand, predict and optimise engineering problems. Many of these problems are modelled using differential equations. This course provides an introduction to differential equations and their solutions, also relates the theory to mechanical, electrical systems and simple real world applications. Topics covered are: Complex numbers, Ordinary differential equations and their applications including first order equations; Fourier series; Vector differential and integral calculus.
